The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has recently recalled Heparin, stating that there is “reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious injury or death.” In February 2008 the FDA issued a public advisory warning against the use of Baxter Heparin products, as four deaths and over 350 reports of adverse side effects linked to Heparin had been reported to the FDA since the beginning of 2008. Since February, the FDA has stated that 86 deaths and over 400 life-threatening reactions had been reported. As a result, the FDA has recalled all remaining Heparin products still being used by doctors and health professionals.
